2019: A Look Back in Images Part 2

Here’s the second part of my review of 2019, in lieu of not actually posting much during the year. It’s been great to look back as you forget just how much you get about in a year.

Top image: part of the skyline of the town of Paisley in Scotland, taken in October.

Shannon Blueway, County Leitrim.jpg
Walking along the Lough Allen Canal (now remarketed as part of the Shannon Blueway) on a trip to County Leitrim in May.

Walking in the Antrim Hills.jpg
A view from Slievenanee in the Antrim Hills in June. You can just make out Dungonnell Reservoir in the distance on the left, which I visited on this same hike.

Sperrin Mountains
A 15km hike in the eastern Sperrin Mountains gave this excellent view across Banagher Forest towards the cliffs of Binevenagh, Lough Foyle and Inishowen in County Donegal.

Craig Tara Beach, Ayr
Burns Cottage, Ayr
Living in Scotland by July and a couple of shots from a quick visit to Ayr. Top: Craig Tara Beach with a view across to Arran. Bottom: the cottage where national bard Robert Burns was born in 1759.

Another trip home in September and a view over the Clogher Valley from the top of Knockmany Forest, County Tyrone.

A visit to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England and an enjoyable 14km walk along the nearby coast. Top: Whitley Bay Beach and St. Mary’s Lighthouse. Bottom: Tynemouth Beach.

A view of Paisley Town Hall and Abbey from Saucelhill Park.

Ballix Hill, County Tyrone (Sperrins).jpg
Home again in October (yes, I go home a lot) and a short hike on Ballix Hill in the western Sperrin Mountains.

St Mirin (Mirren) statue, Paisley.jpg
Autumn in Paisley and a shot of the statue of Irish-born St. Mirin (or Mirren) outside the Catholic Cathedral dedicated to him.
